A lot of things have been discovered about black holes in the past year. Here is a timeline of them:
February 17- Scientists discover an intermediate-mass black hole at the center of a galaxy.
February 21- Chandra finds fastest wind speed from a stellar-mass black hole at 20000000 (20 million) miles per hour; 3% the speed of light
February 27- Scientists discover that ultra-fast outflows help supermassive black holes shape their galaxies
April 12- Skies ablaze with blazars; blazars are particle jets emitted from black holes

April 30- Remarkable outburst from an old black hole: a black hole in the spiral galaxy M83 (15 million light-years from Earth) suddenly multiplies its X-ray output by 3,000
May 2- Black hole caught red-handed in stellar homicide: In the galaxy PS1-10jh (2.7 billion light-years from Earth), a star gets ripped apart by a black hole when it wanders too close to it.

May 9- Overfed black holes shut down galactic star-making
May 31- Light beams 'echo' around supermassive black hole: In the galaxy NGC 4151, beams of light rotate around a black holes as if they were pennies rolling down a funnel
June 4- Giant black hole kicked out of home galaxy: In the galaxy CID-42 (4 billion light-years from Earth), a black hole is pulled away from the galaxy in which it formed.
June 11- Black hole growth found to be out of sync: Two black holes, one in the galaxy NGC 4342 and the other in NGC 4291, grow a little bit at a time, but alternately, as if competing against each other.

August 2- 'Cry' of a shredded star heralds a new era for testing relativity
August 29- WISE survey uncovers millions of black holes
September 26- 'Heart of a Quasar' is painted
October 5- A new black hole is discovered in our galaxy: 1st seen as an X-ray nova; The x-ray blast occured when gas accumulated outside of the black hole, then surging towards the singularity as if it had broken through a dam. SwiftJ1745-26 is part of a binary system with a star similar to our Sun.
